Job Title – Surf Coach Full Time 39hrs per week
Based at Porthcawl Surf School, Rest Bay, Porthcawl
Position reports to Hugh Murray
Salary – Base salary paid at £280 per week plus bonus plus commision
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
1.Meet and greet participants of surf classes
2.Delivery of surfing lessons for adults and children
3.Communicating instructions and commands using clear, simple language.
4.Demonstrating an activity by breaking the task down into a sequence.
5.Encouraging participants to gain and develop skills, knowledge and techniques
6.Working to a high legal and ethical standard at all times, particularly in relation to issues such as child safeguarding and health and safety requirements
7.Maintain all equipment to high standard in line with health and safety regulations
8.Provide support and ensure that customers receive professional, efficient and enthusiastic customer service at all times.
9.Assist in the running of the hire centre - take customer details and ID, handling money and card transactions and ensure equipment is returned in tact
10.Assist with the day to day operations of the Surf Club
11.Deliver and assist at educational presentations/seminars about surf safety in local school and clubs
12.Support and assist at local community events, e.g. Splashup
Skills, Education and Experience
Beach Lifeguard Qual, Surf Coach qual, current crb check as a minimum - please list all other quals and surfing experience
Good coaching and communication skills including public speaking
Strong decision-making, logistical and organisational skills
Good level of physical fitness
Available to work weekends and the peak summer period of June, July and August.
