A Different Type of car park News.

On Friday 12th Oct, I phoned the car parks manager for Bridgend County Borough Council and tried to inform him that there would be mild weather and good surf on the weekend and that it might be a good idea to open the whole of Rest Bay car park on Saturday and Sunday. Did they? Did they Hell. A lot of you might have been lucky to get a parking space at Rest, but a lot struggled and everyone was parked on top of each other. The car Park attendant took a lot of grief but at the end of the day - it wasn’t his fault. He did telephone his boss on Saturday and the response at that time was - The summer season has ended - so the rest of the car park won’t be open - full stop.

This response, from a council that spends thousands and thousands on tourism to encourage people to come to Porthcawl is just a joke. For those of you who did not get a parking space and had to go elsewhere - I would like to apologise for your inconvenience.

Now to play devils advocate - the council have had a problem with Boy Racers ripping up the car park.

BUT - with a parking attendant on duty - I think their attitude sucks.
