Foundation Surf Instructor Course
Do you have a passion to teach surfing? Our surf instructor courses will give you the skills and knowledge to teach a variety of different clients using industry developed techniques formulated by experts in this field.

For this qualification to be valid you must hold a valid lifesaving qualification recognised by ILS. The new National Standard for this is the National Surf Coach Lifesaving Award, Other lifesaving qualifications are recognised by WSA please contact us to check. We also offer a combined course offering both the lifesaving and foundation surf instructor course so you can get both qualifications with us.
- Foundation Surf Instructor £280
- Duration – 2 days Training & half day Assessment followed by logging 20 hours of guided lessons
Gaining our foundation surf instructor qualification will enable you to instruct beginners through to intermediate level. We will equip you with the coaching skills to confidently enter the work place as you will be learning from industry experts in this field. Minimum age to attend the course is 16. We require all of our candidates to be able to CONFIDENTLY demonstrate that they can perform the manoeuvres listed below in surf which is head high.
- Trimming
- Top turn
- Bottom turn
- Cutback
- Re-entry
All manoeuvres must be performed forehand and backhand. If you are not sure whether you are at the required skill level to attend our course then send us some video footage of you surfing and we will advise you further.
