Rest Bay Beach, Porthcawl
Rest Bay is one of the more consistant Surf Beaches in South Wales and is also the closest Surf beach to towns like Cardiff, Bristol,
Reading, Birmingham, and even London.
Low tide
Usually small, but on a good swell, the best time to Surf. Some great punchy waves to be had. Be aware on the incoming tide that you don’t get cought on the left hand side of the beach in front of the rocks.

Half tide
Once the tide starts hitting the rocks on the left (East) side on the beach, this is when the Rip starts to work and many surfers have had to climb out over the rocks. Be sure to try and stay in front of the Lifeguard Sation. This is when any swell starts to push in and the size of the surf starts to pick up.
High tide
Depending on the size of the tide, you can surf up to high tide and the dropping tide OR on big tides, the beach will disappear and beginner surfers are advised to get out or you’ll be surfing on rocks.
