Coney Beach, Porthcawl
Coney Beach is known as being the beach in front of the fairground. It is well sheltered from Westerly winds by the harbour wall and Pier. It works well when Rest Bay is blown out and messy.
Great for beginners, as the closer to the harbour wall you get, the smaller the surf. There is always sand on this beach even on the biggest of tides.
Low tide
Best avoided as the Rip travels down the beach from the Pier and onto the rocks on the left hand side of the beach.
Half tide to High Tide
The best time for Surfing. The size of the surf usually drops quickly on a dropping tide though.
